AMD Radeon R9 M290X

AMD Radeon R9 M290X is 28nm DirectX 11 graphics card based on GCN architecture. The graphics card, produced primarily for large laptops, is in the high-end category with the first quarter of 2014. It is similar to HD 8970M graphics card with its performance and features.

The design foundations of the Radeon M290 series are based on the Pitcairn chip found in the desktop Radeon HD 7870. In essence, the M290X is similar to the desktop Radeon HD 7870, clocked at 900 MHz instead of 1000 MHz. Compared to the HD 7970M, the M290X has the same base clock speed and a 6% higher Turbo clock speed of 50 MHz. As a result, the M290X offers performance between the 7850 and 7870 desktop Radeon models.

As we mentioned before, the M290X is just the HD 8970M model with the same performance and a different name. Compared to Nvidia mobile graphics cards, the M290X performs slightly below the GeForce GTX 780M and slightly above the GeForce GTX 680M. In this way, all the performance demanding games of 2013 can be run fluently in very high details and resolutions.

AMD Radeon R9 M290X

M290X features include new UVD 3 video processor for processing MPEG-4 AVC/H.264, VC-1, MPEG-2, Flash, Multi-View Codec (MVC) and MPEG-4 part 2 (DivX, xVid) HD movies . there is.

The M290 series also features a technology called Enduro that switches between the internal and external graphics card. Apart from that, the M290X can offer up to 6 direct outputs with Eyefinity technology when Enduro is disabled.

Other features of the M290 series include ZeroCore to reduce power consumption. Power Gateway is not supported. With PowerTune, it allows to increase or decrease the clock speed within the power consumption limits of the graphics card.

The built-in HD audio processor also allows HD quality audio to be transmitted over HDMI and DisplayPort. In addition, it can now transfer to more than one device at the same time with the DDMA feature.

The power consumption is almost the same as the GeForce GTX 780M. Due to its high temperature output, it can only be used on large laptops or devices with a good cooling system.
