Your title is contradicted by the article. It doesn’t say this was a bill to stop mining, regulate mining, or prevent new mining. and it wasn’t supported by environmental groups. If bitcoin is as green as proponents claim, they should welcome an environmental impact study

    > The bill would have required the state to study the environmental and climate effects of existing cryptocurrency mining in New York.

    > Environmental groups said that, left unchecked, cryptocurrency mining is working against New York carbon emission goals.

New York sucks, there are exchange licences and we can’t access the staking feature on coinbase. This is keeping alot of money out of crypto.

Saw this post and just looked at my crypto, thinking maybe there’d be an uptick.

Everything completely dropped just a little bit ago! Lol. Crypto is funny.

    Stay strong peeps!

No. Not a win for renewables. Let’s not associate ourselves with untruths in the name of shilling BTC.

Green Acres is the place to be.
Farm livin’ is the life for me.
Land spreadin’ out so far and wide
Keep Manhattan, just give me that countryside.

New York is where I’d rather stay.
    I get allergic smelling hay.
I just adore a penthouse view.
Dah-ling I love you but give me Park Avenue.

    …The chores.
    …The stores.
    …Fresh air.
    …Times Square

    You are my wife.
    Good bye, city life.
    Green Acres we are there.

Good. Now they just need to allow NY residents to actually purchase crypto from more than just Coinbase.

New York doesn’t suck when it comes to crypto. Yes, it’s lame. But they’re being cautious. Tether was/is creating a dangerous bubble for ALL our crypto holdings. If you haven’t read into Tethers shady dealings…You should.

This is great news! Now bitcoin miners won’t have to hide their mining operation as a weed grow.

How is this a win for renewable energy

  • cass1o

In what way is this a win for renewables? It might be good if you run green energy infrastructure because you can sell power to these people because they waste it all but the whole point of green power is to displace fossil fuels. Using up green power on a speculative asset for neck beards is a waste and will mean more CO2 spewed out into the atmosphere.

It is impressive how unregulated capitalism is guaranteed to find some way to waste an efficiency and screw the environment.

New Yorker here and let me tell you If King Mario Cuomo can’t control it and squeeze money out of it then you can’t do it. He will find a way to nickel and dime it soon enough. Such a clown
