Bitcoin’s price drop isn’t deterring one of the biggest BTC whales on record from accumulating more.
According to blockchain service Blockchain.com, a whale who already owns tens of thousands of Bitcoins has received about 3,720 more. Transfer fees for the transaction amounted to 0.005 Bitcoin, or approximately $189.6, depending on the price of the cryptocurrency at the time of writing.
The address of the Bitcoin whale currently ranks fourth among the richest Bitcoin addresses in existence. The address currently holds 112,593.6 Bitcoins, about 0.6% of all BTC in circulation. The address is in the unique league of only four addresses holding more than 100,000 BTC.
It is also the richest Bitcoin address on the blockchain not associated with a cryptocurrency exchange. The other three addresses holding more Bitcoin belong to the crypto exchanges Binance, Bitfinex, and Huobi, respectively. Looking at the whale’s trading history, it seems that the big investor started to accumulate when the price of the leading cryptocurrency fell. Since mid-May, when the price of Bitcoin dropped from around $47,000 to around $30,000 to date, the whale has bought around 13,667 BTC and never sold.
